UN Youth Australia
UN Youth Australia is a national youth-led organisation that aims to educate and empower young Australians on global issues.
The organisation educates over 15,000 young Australians each year about international issues and about the wide role of the UN. The organisation is run for youth by youth to help empower and equip young leaders with the skills and inspiration to tackle social and political issues.
UN Youth Australia is run by a team of over 1,000 volunteers, all aged between 16-25 years old.
Within Australia, the UN Youth Australia organises a series of events, educational tours and competitions to help students harness their skills to create meaningful change. Some examples of these events include:
- National Youth Conference (a national roundtable and workshop for select students) – 2016 (date pending)
- Evatt (a national Model UN competition) – TBC
- Voice (a national public speaking competition) – date depending on state (August-September)

World Youth International
Founded in 1988 by Robert Hoey, World Youth International (WYI) aims to educate, empower and inspire positive change within the global community. The organisation has more than 3,000 national volunteers who help facilitate opportunities to help with providing basic services such as healthcare and education for more than 15,000 people.
The World Youth International also aims to enhance the quality of life, to strengthen local and international communities and to reducing poverty through sustainable development projects. The organisation takes a “hand up, not a hand out” approach to development and community-driven solutions with their local partners to support projects in the areas of health, education, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene), agriculture and livelihoods. The focus of these projects is to maximum their capacity to generate income for local communities and improve access to basic services long-term.
The Personal Empowerment Program (PEP) is a four day program led by a team of inspirational young leaders, qualified trainers, life coaches and health professionals to help people feel more empowered in their day-to-day life. The program explores people’s values and uncovering your individual passions by working in teams, sharing stories and connecting with passionate people.
The next Personal Empowerment Program will be held in Melbourne from Friday, 1 July to Monday, July 4, 2016.
